This shock absorber is designed for shock absorption performance and ride comfort, and has been adjusted to meet the characteristics of each 4WD model.
Please try out the Big Country's standard lineup, including models with damping adjustment.
Use the damping force adjustment mechanism.
From on-road to rugged off-road, there are a wide variety of environments in which 4WDs can operate.
By adjusting the damping force of the shock absorber to the optimum value according to the driving environment, the true potential of the vehicle can be brought out even more.
Basic knowledge about damping force adjustment and tips for adjusting to the optimum value are summarized in "Recommendations for Damping Force Adjustment". Please take a look.
New shock absorber mechanism for both ride comfort and handling stability
Frequency-sensitive shock absorber "HARMO-FLEX" is adopted (*on some models)
"HARMO-FLEX" is a frequency-sensitive shock absorber, a new shock absorber mechanism developed by KYB Corporation to achieve both ride comfort and driving stability, and mass production of which began in 2009.
With conventional shock absorbers, the damping force is almost constant even if the vibration frequency changes as long as the speed remains the same.
On the other hand, "HARMO-FLEX" reduces the vibration of the vehicle body by setting the damping force lower than that of conventional shock absorbers for vibration frequencies of 3Hz or higher, which is the frequency at which humans perceive ride comfort to be good or bad.
Conversely, the damping force is set higher than that of conventional shock absorbers when the resonance frequency on the spring is below about 1.5Hz. This prevents deterioration of handling stability due to insufficient rise of damping force.
In this way, by automatically changing the damping force according to the vibration frequency of the road surface and vehicle body, the vehicle's handling stability can be enhanced while ride comfort can be greatly improved.
*Depending on the model of car, changing the ride height by installing our ride height adjustment parts may also require changing the settings of the cameras, sensors, and radars installed in the car. If not properly adjusted, the various safety equipment (such as collision avoidance and other driving support systems) in the car may not operate properly. Also, please note that there is a possibility that the vehicle will not meet the front side visibility standard (Article 44, Paragraph 5 of the safety standard).
